Jacqueline Capeau, MD, PhD is a Professor of Cell Biology and Metabolism at the Pierre and Marie Curie Faculty of Medicine (University Pierre and Marie Curie, Paris6), Paris, France. Within the faculty, Professor Capeau serves as a Director of the Saint-Antoine Research Centre accredited by the French National Institute for Health and Medical Research (INSERM).Professor Capeau's current responsibilities include Head of the Department of Biochemistry and Hormonology at the Tenon Hospital and Head of a coordinated group on "Complications of Antiretroviral Treatment and Aging" for the French National Agency against AIDS and Viral Hepatitis (ANRS). Professor Capeau has received numerous distinctions including Knight of the "Ordre du Mérite" and Knight of "Ordre National de la Légion d'Honneur". She has over 230 full publications and she has been invited to speak at many international meetings. Professor Capeau also serves as a peer reviewer from many journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine, Lancet, AIDS and Antiviral Therapy. Her main topics of research include genetic lipodystrophies and acquired lipodystrophies secondary to HIV antiretroviral drugs. Professor Capeau also is an investigator on several clinical trials on pathophysiology and therapeutics in HIV-infected patients.
